PARTNER INSTITUTION

The Department of Environmental, Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies (DiSTABIF), Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, is a multidisciplinary research and teaching center, with a staff of over 90 people with activities spanning from biological sciences to earth sciences, chemistry and molecular biology, at present involved in over 40 research programmes, funded by the European Community, the MIUR (Ministry of University and Research), the CNR (National research Council) and other funding agencies. DISTABIF supports these research activities by many experimental facilities which include many advanced instrumentations for biological and environmental investigations. The DISTABIF team is made of experts in the sectors of ecology, soil biology and ecology, plant science, soil chemistry, physic applied to environmental analysis. The team has long term experience in international project, where they have been unit coordinators : SAVAFLUX INCO_DC (EU FP4); CARBOIUS (bilateral project Italy-USA); CARBOEUROPE, INCREASE , CARBOAFRICA (EU- FP6 STREP); NITROEUROPE (EU FP6); Accent-biaflux (EU research exchange); GHG-Europe (EU FP7); GHG-Africa (EU FP7 ERC grant group), GEOCARBON (EU FP7), projects of the Swiss National Science Foundation , COST ACTION 729 and COST Action ES0804, COST Action FP1106. They are involved actively as consultant for task forces of the Ministry of Environment, and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MIPAF) on projects focused on agriculture: ISMEA AGRICARBON project and FOODCARB 201), Rural Network task force "Environment and climate Change" for the rural development program (PSR) 2010, the Global Bionenergy Partnership, Sustainable Development section. They are scientific advisors for the WWF, member of the Italian Society of Ecology and associated scientists at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change.
